General question to the list -- this question has come up twice as
apparently, there are some institutions that are limiting the user profile
space. This appears to be at odds with recommendations by OS providers and
I have no intention of back-porting logic into the 7.3.x branch -- but if
this is a larger issue, I can look at having 7.5.x manage the creation of
symlinks to allow for the redirection of user data. However, this would
have to be managed through symbolic links as MarcEdit does not store data in
the registry in order to allow the program to be portable (i.e., you can
copy the program folder to a jump drive and it will work fine without
installing it so long as the framework components are available) -- so,
whatever process that was used would have to be able to be done via
redirection at the file level, and would move all data at the [UserFolder]
level (generally: c:\users\[username]\appdata\roaming\marcedit7x\[folders]
