If you haven't found anyone by mid-summer, let me know. I'm likely going to be in Boston to take my oldest son, a junior, on a couple college campus visits in the Boston area.

Best,

Subject: [MARCEDIT-L] MarcEdit Regex tutoring?

Old cataloger here trying to learn new tricks -- I have no training in MarcEdit / Regex / metadata. My last computer programming class was in 1983 and it was BASIC. For creating macrokeys I used to use NewKey and then TLC's IT's MARC Macro programmer -- both plain language - which were enough for school cataloging.

Our district switched out of TLC to Follett Destiny and I really need some batch editing capabilities beyond the paltry offerings that Destiny provides. Hence, I have MarcEdit.

RegEx just makes me go cross-eyed and I've spent the better part of a week trying to parse it using online videos and help, searching these archives, and getting nowhere. I'm wondering if there's somebody out there in the Cambridge / Boston, Mass. area who uses RegEx with MarcEdit frequently and would be willing to give me a 1-2 hour tutoring session? I am entirely willing to pay a tutoring fee, can travel and meet either during the work day or off hours. At this point I think it's more economical for me to pay somebody to explain this to me than for me to keep breaking rocks on the mountain and re-inventing the wheel at the same time.

Thanks. You can email me at [log in to unmask]
