Hm. I think the documentation has been changed. I had been under the impression that the normalization rule in the import profile is run before matching and merging, and I have a rule which expects that. My rule might work anyway, in my specific case; I will check. But it appears I was wrong, and a normalization rule won't solve Kelsey's problem. Thank you for the correction.

Hi Steve,

In the Alma documentation (https://secure-web.cisco.com/1m1fX0nUFqWRf9nqQH4BiPy1LWuCES99MArzGUs2qisz_8b8h565oHIxIEgpJ7wNVxY87m7hoESzqGP_OY91AkFpqsex0Wp5UCLE4tFvgVtbfwHJ0sGPi-sNCUO7RJ3cuIc78pvdudDxghECBxsemIRKbfDsMzOcXirlO5mOb6JtTm3JKTWfH_gVIIB5fac_V0UgnpJZRhb6FZABPaGYwQXWnsDiET4vzD1sZCZ47sTmZFknZl8c8eQfAvwkHJn1ISwL6xsXmnZRAxNCkEhVk_BciS2pGt9_Eh5WBLnzcZrxJSdIHMSIGy2ANwRXcW4d9zfgdut974LVjjElZT1bx4VzVwo8W92-eKzKiLPUbXFYi3x5rtSERNVeJSo9ulUdxalufYK9BeVy82RCFGYHsP76xn-dHO5ks93KCsgNUybXEFZqJZaLZ_GOsXcEzjy3eE_9yZx_S9kREfIaSBjl69w/https%3A%2F%2Fknowledge.exlibrisgroup.com%2FAlma%2FProduct_Documentation%2F010Alma_Online_Help_%28English%29%2F040Resource_Management%2F060Record_Import%2F020Managing_Import_Profiles#Creating.2FEditing_an_Import_Profile:_Normalization_and_Validation) it says: "When records are imported, the normalization rules are applied to the bibliographic record data when saving the records, which occurs after any configured match and merge actions have been processed."

We have normalization rules strip order data from records, and this certainly seems to be happening after matching. Are you using a workflow where you're seeing normalization happening first?

Best,
John Dickson
