I have a bunch of records which have an 008 which look like this:
=008 100429s9999\\\\xxu\\\\\s\\\\f000\0\eng\a
I'd like to take the date information from the 26 subfield c copy it
(leaving the 260 info intact) then paste it into the appropriate place
in the 008. So if my 260 looks like this:
=260 \\$a[Washington, DC],$c1943.
I want to find a way for MarcEdit to make my new 008 look like this:
=008 100429s1943\\\\xxu\\\\\s\\\\f000\0\eng\a
I thought I had found the answer on Terry's blog from a post about "a
forgotten MarcEdit subfield editing function" which says to use the
subfield editing function enter 260 in the field and enter c in the
subfield leave the find are blank and then in the replace area enter
008|7||
But when I do that I get the following result:
=008 100429s1943 00\0\eng\a
Which puts the date in there like I want but also gets rid of my form
"s" and my gpub "f" and my ctry "xxu"
I'm close, but not close enough. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
I really need that other 008 info to stay intact.
