Hello!
I've been using the MarcValidator function and have come across something that is a bit puzzling to me. When I attempt to validate a record that has no 245 field, I get a set of errors both including the record which does not have a 245 field among some other errors. I've posted a small group of them below:
Record #: 1
001 (if defined): 2744109
245 (if defined):
Errors:
One 245 field must be present in a MARC21 record.
Record #: 2
001 (if defined): 5812784
245 (if defined): Industrial minerals :$ba review of occurrences, treatment, uses, values and production, with special reference to Queensland's resources /$cby B. Dunstan.
Errors:
050-ind2: Invalid data (\) Indicator can only be 04.
Record #: 3
001 (if defined): 2779200
245 (if defined): Studies in Welsh phonology,$cby Samuel J. Evans.
Errors:
050-ind2: Invalid data (\) Indicator can only be 04.
However, when I run the Identify Invalid Records function on the same .mrc file, I get a message saying that there were no invalid records found. Could anyone shed any light on why the results are different? Does ME use the validation file differently depending on whether one is validating the record or identifying invalid records?
Sincerely,
Patrick Harrington
