Merged fields are sorted so that when inserting data, it can be placed in approximate field group order when inserting the data within the record. This would be an unavoidable by product if this is what you are seeing.

Subject: [MARCEDIT-L] Problem with 700 fields when merging records

Hello,

I have noticed that when I merge records in the ones that have more than two editors (not authors, the order of authors' names in 700 fields is not changed) the order of their names is changed in the 700 fields:

Example:

Original record to merge with one with no 700s

In 245 c : edited by Alex S. Evers, Mervyn Maze, Evan D. Kharasch.

Order of the 700 fields

=700 1\$aEvers, Alex S.
=700 1\$aMaze, M.$q(Mervyn)
=700 1\$aKharasch, Evan D.

When these 700 are moved merged in another record:

=700 1\$aEvers, Alex S.
=700 1\$aKharasch, Evan D.
=700 1\$aMaze, M.$q(Mervyn)

Any ideas why this happen and how it is possible to prevent it?

Best regards,
