This has to do with the translation being used (the XSLT). The translations provided in MarcEdit shouldn't include this option -- but they are for an older version of MODs (I think). Since I'm not sure exactly what your files look like, it's hard to know what stylesheet will or won't work. But essentially, MarcEdit allows you to edit and register new stylesheets to process data. Within that stylesheet used to process, you would want to make sure that the template is in use, and that the process transitioning to MARCXML is using the native, and not the XSLT (set in the preferences under the marcengine) for the best, most flexible results.

Hi Terry,
Thank you very much! I apologize, I am still learning how to use MarcEdit, and I don't know how to remove whitespace as the URL you provided says to. As I have files with hundreds of whitespace in between individual MARC records, I believe I want to globally edit by using the template you provide, but I do not know how to use this template or where to do so in MarcEdit, despite my efforts to blindly click on most things within MarcEdit.
Thank you again!
Alexandra
