Terry,
As I said in the message I just sent, the record count after I used the delete function to delete two problem records was two fewer than before, so I assumed the records had been deleted. I did not attempt to do a find on the 001's to double check that, as the find function had not worked earlier when I KNEW the records were still in the file.
Anyhow, I decided to sort the records by control number and paged through them to make sure the records which I had deleted were, indeed, not in the file. Turns out they were still there. I deleted them manually and again asked for a report and I am happy to say that it ran successfully this time. The record count was now 4 fewer than the original file, i.e. two fewer than it should have been, however.
If you can understand my explanations in these two messages, you are even smarter than I think you are :-)
