Hi Yvonne

What I would do would be to go to 'File > Select Records for Edit' (as you have done), change the 'Display field' from the default '245$a' to '035', click on the 'Import File' button, then in the 'Search' section I'd leave the drop-down blank but enter 'OCoLC' in the text box next to it and click on the search icon. This should select the records that match your search and you can then export them (without having to select them manually). This might not work well with different or more complicated searches ('OCoLC' is a pretty distinctive text string) but it should do the job for now.

With kind regards from the Dalton McCaughey Library Team

Subject: [MARCEDIT-L] extracting records with OCLC number in 035

CAUTION: This email originated from outside of the organization. Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know the content is safe.

I have a set of about 216K records ready to send to OCLC for a reclamation. However, I need to extract the records with OCLC numbers into a separate file. I did the Select records to edit, have the records loaded. I'm using the MARCedit libguides that was posted last week, but it just explains how to scroll through the records to select them, but not searching. I selected Field in the first box under Search:, and see F#: in the search box, but not sure what to do from there. I want to search the 035 for "(OCoLC)." I am not good with regular expressions, or I'd try to use the regular search function limiting to field. Help please!!!!

(I'm pretty frazzled-- I just sent that message to the wrong listserv, going to try again).

Thank you!!!
