That's because you are entering SRU data -- I'm assuming with Alma, you are using SRU. If you want Z39.50 -- you need to open the Z39.50 client, and add a z39.50 server. Sorry -- misunderstood your question. I always recommend using SRU with Alma -- you get better indexing and more potential indexes to query.

With 'custom' selected I'm allowed to enter index settings (title index, author index, etc.), but still nothing for database, port, or Alma username or password. (I don't know if all of those are required to log in to Alma through MarcEdit, but I'm assuming at least one of those is as I currently get an error when I search). I've attached a screenshot of what I'm seeing now next to the previous 'database properties' screen, in case that helps clarify things at all.
