This actually is a windows behavior, though it is on my list of things that I investigate periodically to see how difficult it would be to override.

Isn't this a Windows bug- I mean feature? I've noticed this behavior in MarcEdit but assumed it was Windows asserting its superior knowledge of what I want to do. It does this in other programs too if there is no space before the beginning of my block. Very annoying.

Bryan , et al.,
+1 for this issue. It drives me crazy when trying to copy a URL from 856 $u to paste and test in a browser. I guess I have just gotten used to it.
Cheers, Paul

Subject: Greedy selection
In the MarcEditor, when I select a multiple word phrase in a field, the editor extends my selection to include the subfield code (and sometimes the entire next word) when the mouse gets to the space. For example:
=655 \0$aChildren's films.
If I select "Children's" with my mouse, and then move the mouse to the right, it selects "aChildren's films" (ending just before the period). In testing this just now (because I initially thought it was just grabbing the subfield code, then realized it also selected the entire next word in some cases), it seems to always grab the entire 2nd word, without being able to select individual letters of that word. For the 3rd and subsequent words, it sometimes selects the entire word and sometimes allows selection of individual letters in that word, possibly depending on how fast one selects the words.
Is it possible to make the program less greedy and have it not extend the selection to include the whole word if I only selected part of a word and continue the selection to subsequent words?
Thank you for your assistance,
