Why not just convert to Marc text (using Marcbreaker), then
batch-change '\n=([0-9])' to '\t=$1' in any text editor of your choice?
Or in powergrep or perl or whatever. Since the character encoding
at that point consists of {-delimited strings, you probably won't
mess it up without trying to, though with Excel you never know--I
avoid it at all costs: I tend to stick to text editors, where you're
less
likely to be taken by surprise. pfs
