Maybe -- as I say, III uses a variety of load tables which get referenced via the 949 or the lack of a 949. When I was doing load table training, we found that the process we used via Connexion was very different than through data exchange. This is also true of Export. III has Export tables and they are different between Z39.50 and Data Exchange. III does change data on export -- my guess is that since problem is occurring when data is exported and re-imported, the problem is happening somewhere within that part of the process.
But as a say, making these changes would require changing data in the LDR which the tool simply doesn't do unless requested by the user (save for the character encoding information). I'm happy to look at records that you are having problems with to verify that changes are not being made -- but in some quick testing here -- I'm just not seeing it.

Subject: Re: [MARCEDIT-L] Tool changing mat type
Thanks for the input Terry! I will definitely look into the Sierra side! Just one thought though, if it were Sierra, wouldn't this have happened on all of our record loads prior to the use of MarcEdit? As in, if we are using the same load table that we always have for loading digital content, wouldn't this issue have been present regardless of MarcEdit? In our instance, when loading directly into Sierra without first using the tool, the load tables are not processing this change...
