I am working on converting some MARC data from a system that used the 852 tag for the holdings information to one that uses the 949 tag for holdings.
One task I am trying to do in MardEdit is to add in an item type code based on the call number
Using the FIND command I found that I can enter a regular expression search of 852.*\$h[001-999] and find all entries that have a nonfiction call number.
I would like to use that search and add in a 949 subfield t with a value of NONFICTION
I tried to use the ADD/DELETE Field utility with the option of "Add field if present/NOT present", but when I do it creates a single new MARC tag regardless of who many copied I have. Where I will need to have this added to existing 949 tags and have an entry for each item.
Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Jim Martin
