There is an even simpler solution to this puzzle than the one I gave earlier. Use the Edit Field Data tool and limit the regex to the specific field:

Field: 952
Find: (\$[gv]) +
Replace: $1
Use Regular Expressions

This finds a subfield $g or $v followed by one or more spaces, and replaces it with the subfield found. The Tool replaces all occurrences in each field at once, so there's no need to repeat the regex to get every occurrence.
