Hello,

I am a graduate student majoring in history. For a project about publications of women in the sciences I'am analysing a dataset from the German Nationallibrary (DNB ). To make the preprocessing faster and easier I've been using the MARC-Editor, especially the report and the TXT-Extraction functions. I suppose I am doing something wrong:
When I compare the total numbers of (non-empty) entries I see some severe discrepancies: For example, field 41$a has 142952 entries in the TXT-extract, but the report shows 143414 entries for field 41$a. For Field 264$a the results are even worse: According to the report I should have 124946 non-empty entries, in the TXTExtraction I only get 98651. For some fields the numbers fit, for others they are higher on the report than the number of entries in the TXT-extract.

Is this an expected behaviour? How could this happen, I mean what could be the cause for these discrepancies and how can I fix the problem?

Thanks in advance,
Suellen
