Hi Abigail,
I am by no means an expert but this is how I worked it out.
Tools > Edit subfield data
Field: 245
subfield: [a,p,n,^c,b]
*Field Data :./
Replace with $h[electronic resource]
Check "Add subfield if not present"
Click Replace text
*Field Data has a colon, period, forward slash and space

Subject: Re: [MARCEDIT-L] Adding eBook GMD tag to batch of records
Hi, Abigail -
I can get that subfield added, but found it lands at the tail end of the 245 string after the c subfield, rather than immediately after the a subfield where the GMD is normally.
If the exact location of $h is important to you, perhaps someone else knows enough regular expression to fit it where you want it.
To simply add the $h subfield to the 245 field, this is what I did:
First, to avoid duplication of GMD data, or to strip out any other potential alternatives like [sound recording] for audioebooks, I removed any existing $h tag in the 245 field :
Tools /
Edit subfield data
Field: 245
Subfield: h
Checkbox Delete Subfield: checked
Remove Text : click
Then to add in my own GMD:
Tools /
Edit subfield data
Field: 245
subfield: h
Field Data: [electronic resource]
Replace with: [electronic resource]
Add subfield if not present: check
Replace text: click
(I put the text data in both the Field Data field and the Replace with input fields.)
Sincerely,
Clare Murphy

Subject: [MARCEDIT-L] Adding eBook tag to batch of records
Hi, I'm new to the MARCeditor and cataloging in general. I've managed to combine a set of MARC records into one file and I'd like to add to the 245 field the subfield h_[electronic resource] so that our system recognizes the books as ebooks. I tried using the instructions below from another user's question but when I add "[electronic resource]" or "h_[electronic resource]" to the replace text area nothing happens and I get the message "0 modifications made." I'm trying this on an individual record before I do so with the combined file.
Thanks for your assistance!
Abigail
Us the Subfield edit tool –
