Well, that's unfortunate. Hopefully someone will come up with a workaround.
Re: Dana's points --
We get our records directly from the State Library as *.DAT files
(SirsiDynix Horizon Information Portal 3.21.2_5332) and they have
often been imported directly into our system (Koha) without using
MarcEdit. So our issues are completely self-imposed :-(
Further clarifications -- LDR position 9 is blank in the original
record from the State Catalog, but is then changed to "a" after
import. The � character is visible both in our catalog and in any MARC
records we export from our system.
If we can't isolate the records with this issue, then we're looking at
either catching them on an ad hoc basis, or doing a wholesale
replacement of all our records in the correct format.
