If you have any experience with XSLT -- I'd recommend taking the default XSLT translation and make the changes to better support your collection needs. Also, if you use DSpace, the current instance can support MODs fairly simply.

Subject: [MARCEDIT-L] Editing repeated MARC fields
At Sacramento State we are still cataloging our theses manuscripts, so I am using the DC records from our IR to create provisional MARC records for the manuscripts. Because OAI-PMH requests return simple DC, I get three dc.description fields that are semantically different, mapped to a MARC 520 field during the DC->MARCXML transformation.
Eventually, catalogers change the second instance of the 520 to a 502, and the third instance to a (local) 793 0_.
Is there any way, using any of the tools in MarcEdit, to leave the first 520 alone, change the second instance to a 502 and the third to a 793? Or is this something that can and should be taken care of during the DC->MARCXML transformation? Or is it something catalogers will just have to edit manually?
Below is sample metadata from a record as it appears in MarcEdit, followed by how I would like it. Any help pointing me in the right direction is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
