Hmm... I will keep trying to export from Millennium. I've called the help desk a number of times and it always comes down to me, missing something, that I need to pay for.

And I will look into Z39.50, as well.

Thanks.

That doesn't make sense. One of the core functions of the Millennium system is the Read/Write MARC records tool. You're administration should be able to see it. I was under the impression that this wasn't functionality that can be stripped from their system and would then give you the ability to export records directly from the system.

As far as exporting record via Tab Delimited and the re-importing them back into MARC via the tool -- you could likely do it if you only wanted limited record data. If the records are few and indeed exporting the data from Millennium isn't an option -- I'd consider Z39.50. It will take a while to gather the records, but you could export a list of bibliographic record numbers and then have MarcEdit batch query and download that set. However, the Z39.50 server for III isn't the most robust resource in the tool kit -- so it would take a little time to collect data using that method.

Subject: [MARCEDIT-L] Millennium list -to- MARC file

Hello MARCedit-L,

I'm looking to export bibliographic MARC from Millennium; however I will have to pay Innovative a bit of money for the ability to do it directly (no export table). So I am working on a method for exporting a List, importing that text-delimited file into MARCedit, and then saving it as MARC records. I'm okay with it being a little bit simple (missing leader, header, etc) because my need is to have a file of our serials and holdings (for WEST, if you're curious).

Anyways, I wonder if someone has successfully translated a Millennium List to MARC file using MARCedit, especially if they have documented their procedures.

I'm working on such a document right now (which I'll happily share once I
finish) but I thought I would check for anyone else who has invented this wheel. :)

Thanks,
