Bobby -- You submitted this on the marcedit list but don't know if you're aware that Robert Bremer at OCLC wrote a macro that does this (takes print serial record and clones eSerial "Description based on print verion" record (and I think it accounts for occurence of 1XX). I'm not at work so don't have the macro book in front of me, but if you were willing to do in OCLC, it might be there. --Steve Shadle
