Stacy:
A few extra hints for using this excellent tool ...
On the main window, the menu path is
Tools/Select MARC records/Extract Selected Records
In the "Select MARC File:" box you need to specify or browse for a compiled .mrc filename.
As Terry suggests, select a Display field like 546$a
Import the file
For large files, maximize the window and click on the "Display Field 546$a" column header to sort the data.
This will group similar language notes, allow you to skip records without any 546, and give you an idea of
what you're dealing with -- which may include works partly in English, with other languages as well.
Once you select a group of records (check boxes in the "Record Number" column) and click the "Export Selected" button,
you'll need to specify a text .mrk filename for the output.
If working on 546 notes does not turn out well for your file, you can change the Display Field to 008, "Import File" again,
and input a language code in the "Search:" box. The application will put a check in the box for every record whose
008 contains that code: eng, fre, lat, whatever ...
The "Retain Checked Item" option allows you to search successive words or codes to accumulate a group, in case it would be
of interest to have a file of all Scandinavian languages, all Cyrillic alphabet languages, or ancient+middle+modern
versions of one language, etc.

So, you could use the Extract Selected Resources tool. This can be accessed from the Main window/Tools/Extract Selected Records menu items. Set the display field to the field you want to use to query on (so in this case, 546$a) -- and import the file. You can then search and select fields that you want to export. Now, I've used this tool on some large data sets -- but if we are talking about really large sets (hundreds of thousands) -- it may be pretty slow.
