Subject: MarcEdit Update Scheduled for the weekend

I seem to be doing a lot more work on this lately (or my code is slipping, not sure which) ☺ -- but I’ll be posting an update this weekend. At this point, the updates included are:

1) Dedup tool – the new function assumed that a field/subfield are always defined. This is different than the older function, so I’ve expanded the behavior so that you can dedup on the field (minus subfield designation).

2) Edit Subfield Function (enhancement) – when moving data with the edit subfield function, it moves the data for all records. I’ll be enabling the option that allows you to select the process occur only when new (or not present already).

3) Fixing a couple spelling errors in the status messages

4) Updated the CDISIS => MARC conversion to make the automatic subfield insertion code smarter.

5) ***If I can finish it*** -- I’m adding a new function that would allow you to do recursive operations on a field. For example, say you had: =650 \\$a<file:///\\$a> data – data; data – data; data – data; data – data…
And you wanted to create a new field at every semicolon. This would be possible with a regular expression (and easy one) if you didn’t have to create the grouping element as part of the expression. So, I’m making some changes in the told to provide an environment that allows this to be done easily.

6)      Adding a MODS 3.4 => MARC Translation
