Timely question! I am dealing with a file of records that probably contains duplicates. I'm a little confused on how to use the Record Deduplication tool. I understand the 'control field' but not sure on the choices for "Dedup on". Why would you choose "none"?

For the options part -
If you choose remove duplicate items I'm assuming what's left in the file are all unique items.
Does print unique items create a new file of the unique items?

If you use the dedup tool, MarcEdit will keep the first record it finds on dup, and preserve those that are not.

I have two sets of records with some overlap between the titles, is there a way to match and overwrite the records from from one set on the other while still preserving the ones that do not match?

Thank you,

Amy Nadell
