Margaret,
I know you've mentioned this before, but I've never been able to recreate this issue and I test on much larger files. There was a discussion about this a little while ago, but that ended up being an issue with how the program tracked changes to files so changes would occasionally be lost between specific operations. That was something I could recreate and verify, so it was fixed. In the past, I've thought that potentially you might be running into an issue with the preview mode (which I recommend being turned off as its deprecated), so in a past update, I spent some time making some changes there -- and audited the temp files that are generated to ensure the program was tracking those as well and have made small tweaks, but as I say, I'm shooting in the dark.
If this is a problem that you can recreate, reliably, I'd like to work with you to resolve it, but I will need the same files you are working with, and exact steps so I can see if I can try and recreate and verify the issue.

Subject: [MARCEDIT-L] loss of records
I keep losing records. I will make a number of edits to a file, and all goes well. Then all of a sudden I lose most of the file. I admit I'm working with a largish file (10,000 bibs) but I don't understand why I can make changes without a problem if size were the issue.
I think someone else on this list had this problem but I can't remember what they thought was causing it.
