I'm not sure which message you are talking about -- but MarcEdit only needs
to have the data in a file location that can be read and written to. The
easiest way to ensure that the location is always readable and writable is
to store the data on the desktop, a folder on the desktop, or your documents
directory. However, any location that is readable and writable will be
fine. The only caveat -- MarcEdit is a .NET application so if you store
your data on a network space, it may or may not work. I've never had
trouble, but I know that this is partly because my group policies don't
specifically set trust relationships for the .NET namespace. If yours do,
you may find reading to and writing to directors on shares or network space
limited.

Subject: Re: [MARCEDIT-L] How to Use MardEdit to Edit EBSCO eBook Records
Before or After They are downloaded?

Hi! I'm new to MarcEdit and have the same problem described here. Since it
has been about 2 1/2 years since this problem was posted, I want to know if
the answer is still the same: the exported records need to go to the desktop
and not to a file location in Windows before loading into MarcEdit?

Seems like a rather odd problem, especially for someone who is exporting a
large number of records (!)
