I should mention--the fact that it's an easily-editable text file is a great thing.

I wanted to set up a tasklist to delete about 20 different MARC fields (stripping a file down to basic ISBD) and it was much easier to create the tasklist file with Notepad than with MARCedit's task editor.

(Not intended as a dig at the task editor, which I think does the best it can. But for repeating the same command over and over with just one variable, the MARC field, the notepad method involved fewer steps.)

Subject: Re: [MARCEDIT-L] Saving a "Manage Tasks" list as a file

unfortunately, the people right now who use MarcEdit in my department, do so independently, so we each have separate sets of tasks and settings that we each use and create based on various projects.
...though that's a good goal for me to get everyone on the same master set :)

meanwhile, I'll look into copying the file as Ben suggested as a workaround for now...
thanks for all the feedback!

I am working on updating the function so that the import doesn't simply overwrites but appends the new tasks to the list -- but this is how I've done this in the past. I maintain the master set of tasks and I periodically share the exported file of all my tasks to our cataloging group.
