Hello!
New to the MarcEdit listserv and to MarcEdit, so I'm wondering if anyone might
have an idea on a problem I have.
The background:
Our library has roughly 30k bib records that may have anywhere from one to
four holdings. We are attempting to create specific 856 fields with URLs with
proxies for each of our campuses. I have a process worked out to give temp
field numbers 856, 867, 858, 869 to create these on the bib records, and then
just do find and replace to do a massive revert them all back to 856.
However! Here's my problem.
The next step is that I would like to move the individual URLs to the specific
holdings. We have a .mrk file with the bibs followed by the holdings, so I could
see maybe doing a macro with an if/then statement (each holding has unique
identifier in the 852 field), to place those temp records after the 852 field and
thus being part of the find and replace. But what I can figure out is how to
move the unique URLs in bulk - if there is even a way. The logic is escaping me.
I would appreciate any help or suggestions!
