Hi everyone,

I have recently found the Task List area, which has proven to be very useful in my current project of cleaning up a bunch of pretty terrible MARC records we received from a vendor. I've created a set of tasks to do things like: add a generic 007; a 008 that takes some data from other fields; fix up the Leader which didn't have the right amount of characters in it; fix up both the indicators in the 245; etc. etc. etc. Now I can just click a button and it will run through all of these tasks one after another and the records will be much improved.

However, I've hit a bit of a snag because when I save the record as a .mrc file and try to reopen it, all of the field names have changed. The 007 is now an 033, the 008 is an 048 etc. If I save it as a .mrk file there isn't any problem, but I need to be able to save it as a .mrc to load it into our library system.

I've never had to try adding a LDR, 007 or 008 before, so I don't know if this is causing problems. The next thing I'm going to try is to manually change each of these fields, save it, and try to see which change is causing the fields to get messed up. But I figure I'm just making some sort of rookie mistake and someone here may be able to suggest what I'm doing wrong... ?

Thank you,
