Not really -- if MarcEdit recognizes the file as being in UTF-8, then it will keep that as they format when saving. In fact, it saves all data in UTF-8 unless it specifically is told not to in the preferences. So, I'm not sure what would be causing the problem you are seeing. Can you send me a copy of the file so I can take a look at it and see if I can recreate the problem? You can send it to me directly ([log in to unmask]).

Subject: [MARCEDIT-L] Diacritics problems in MarcEditor
I've experiencing a new problem which has only cropped up in the past week or so.
I am finding that when I edit a large file, the diacritics get garbled upon saving. I am working with UTF-8 records. When I initially break the file, I inspect the file and all the diacritics are displaying as expected. Then I perform some edits (in this case, deleting $b from 050 fields), then save, and the diacritics are garbled.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Holly
