I tag this onto the below, because it may be related ...

I was using "Selected Individual Record(s) to Make" under File (MarcEdit
5.2) to make 2 files out of 1, where records with certain data were in
the new file and where I wanted only the records without the data to
remain in the original file (or at least in another new file). So I
identified the records with the data, selected them, and was able to use
Export Selected to create the new file, no problem. However, even when I
do NOT check off Retain Checked Items, the exported files remain in the
original record. (I assumed by not checking the box, they would be
deleted upon export.)
Is there a way to do what I want to do (create 2 files out of one,
etc.), without having to repeat the process above but instead selecting
the records without the data the second time around?

The reason for this was it was confusing for people in 4.x. I've been trying to think of a way to re-introduce this back into MarcEdit, but do so in a way that isn't confusing.
