Hi Jean -
The indicators do need to be added in first - a \ means blank. So 2 blank indicators would be \\
A great little video for beginners is "MarcEdit: Editing MARC records using the MarcEdit MarcEditor" on YouTube : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNMExHdki9k "Add fields" can be found near timestamp of 5:10 .
But there is lot more in the video - it is a great overview video. And it brings up lots of other tutorials.

Subject: [MARCEDIT-L] how to add a field with blank indicators
Newbie question: How do I add a MARC field with blank indicators? Currently, adding 099 with text LPZ gives me the tag 099, first indicator L, second indicator P, text Z. Another field I need to add is acting similarly. (The first two characters become indicators, and the text of the field starts with the third character.)
