I only use MarcEdit for global edits, but I am one of the people who's
been using 4.6 to do most of my editing (although I use 5.1 for
translating files). I admit, I haven't tested any of the later updates
to version 5, but two things were giving me problems:
Trying to run a large number of edits in sequence on a moderate-size
file (15,000 KB range). The program wouldn't actually perform the later
edits, but would act as if it did.
Trying to do a straight Replace over the entire file.
If doing either of these works better in the new version I'll be happy.
And if they don't, I'll still be copacetic so long as I can keep 4.6
installed in tandem with the new version. I vastly appreciate all the
work you've put into this program--it's been a real life-saver!
