Hi, Terry,
Twice when I was working on Springer record files of between 3,000 and 5,000 records, I have lost more than half of the file. I am pretty sure that what is happening is that, when I save a file, I get a message that MARCEdit has saved the file in x-number of seconds, but it is taking my very slow laptop much longer to actually process them. Then, if I exit the file after a save, all the records have not actually been saved so some of them are (permanently) lost.
Does that make any sense? Is there anything I could possibly be doing to cause records to be lost? I edit the records in the partial file mode (not sure what you call it). Basically all I am doing is adding/deleting/editing fields and subfields. That is, I am not merging or splitting files.
