Hi Michael,
I think this sounds like a problem I had with my .bin files from OCLC! Have you tried opening the .bin in MarcEdit by converting the output file into .txt, and then compiling the file into .mrc? That worked for me.
I hope this helps!

Subject: Problematic file
Hi all,
I have a set of MARC records from OCLC; when I download the file, it is in .bin format;
I try to open the file in MARC-Edit, compile it into .mrc; however, when I try to open the file as a .mrc file in MARC-Edit, I get an error message "Please make certain this file is valid MARC".
I tried opening it on a different computer, same problem.
Is this likely happening because the file is corrupt? I can get the data to load as a .bin.
Thanks so much for your help,
