I also load the OCLC records for our Springer e-books.

My strategy is first do a find/replace to change all 856 fields to 956
fields. Then I change the 956s that have doi in them back to 856.
You could then delete all 956 fields, although I don't bother.

I have set up a series of "Tasks" to do this and the other edits, so it
goes very quickly.

I wait until I load them into our catalog to find the records that
didn't have a doi URL.

Then I eyeball the search results for non-Springer URLs. When I find one I use a distinct phrase found in the non-Springer URL and do a global Delete field routine using that phrase. For instance: Delete 856 field with ebrary.com in subfield u. Or you can just jump to the record from the search results and manually delete the offending URL.
