One option is to filter out ELvl “M” records from your original search.  For instance, if you use the command line, something like this will pull bibs that aren’t coded “M” (lv: index):

ti:dogs and ll:eng not lv:m/2017

I didn't have any luck finding the index in the Keyword/Numeric Search drop-down menu, though.
