FYI -- most windows are resizable -- so if you find a window to small -- I
recommend resizing it or going to the preferences and selecting a different
font/font size (I use smaller ones).

The reason folks have seen some screen sizing differences in the later
updates have been because I'm enforcing font sizes. I wasn't if the user
didn't change the default. The problem was, this had unintended
consequences for international users.

Okay, I found out that if I made the MARC Tools window bigger, those check
boxes reappeared. I was afraid it would be something dumb like this, but I
never needed to resize the window before.

Thanks, Elaine

Subject: Latest update problem

Dear Collective Wisdom,

Sorry to ask such a newbie question, but I really don't know what else to
do. Has anyone else encountered the following problem?

I downloaded the latest software update a couple of days ago and the MARC
Tools screen now looks weird. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the
64-bit version but it still looked the same. I also tried uninstalling and
installing the 32-bit version but it looks the same as the 64-bit version. I
hope you can see the little image I pasted here.

The Help screens don't look anything like this! The check-boxes for
Translate to MARC-8/Translate to UTF8 are gone.

Our local system requires records to be in MARC8 format but the UTF-8 vendor
file I ran through MarcBreaker doesn't seem to have converted it, even
though MARC8 appears to have been selected. Here's an example of a record
that I ran through MarcBreaker. Doesn't the position 9 character "a"
indicate that the format is still in UTF-8? (I made it red below)

I've been using MarcEdit for a long time in a limited way but am just now
starting to use it more in a new job.

Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks, Elaine Donnelly
