Sorry for the cross posting

Dear Colleagues,

I have following two questions relating to MARC field 880 in the Arabic
records:

1. In UTF-8 for Arabic, Persian and Urdu records ”/r” is required in
tag 880 $6? In UTF-8 records without “/r” the Arabic script is
printed from right to left. If required what is the role of this
character.

2. In the Arabic script records the ISBD punctuations are placed at
the left end of each field or at the right end as in the Latin
records.

Looking for the experts’ advice.

Kayarat
