(Is this the right list for this? I thought it was Alma-L at first
because of the content, but seems not... are you trying to get this item
data properly massaged using MarcEdit, maybe?)

You can do it either way. If you do not use mapping (or specify a
default), then the data in the subfield you declare for the location
must exactly match an Alma location code. If you use mapping, then you
can tell Alma what various data as it appears in the incoming file
should correspond to what Alma location.
Since that checkbox was shown checked, I wondered whether maybe they did
not then fill out anything on the Mapping tab. If Alma can't match the
library/locations up, then holdings/items aren't created, is what I've
found.
