So, that's what I thought. This is why I made my plugin a few years ago. Basically, the program would grab the desc.txt file, normalize the data -- do modification there (in batch) and then re-upload tricking the indexer to re-index the collection (since the desc.txt file changes would require files to be regenerated). I know it works with CDM 4 -- but I haven't tried it with 5 yet. I suppose if I knew that it worked, as I say, I could make something like that available to the larger community. I just haven't because I honestly hadn't thought anyone would be interested.

Talked to my Contentdm people, and they say that it is NOT easy to export
and import back in data into Contentdm. Rats.
But maybe we would want to take data out of DSpace and have MarcEdit and
OCLC Terminology services do their magic to it. Supposedly it would be
easier to get that data out and back in. But just an idea.
