I'd mentioned this to Duncan off-line, but if all we are looking at is stripping the periods off the end of all the fields -- that's easy enough.  In MarcEdit, you will not see the \r\n at the end of lines.  MarcEdit's regular expression engine treats lines as lines -- so to remove a period at the end of all fields, you'd just need to use the general replace function, and then the following:
Find what: \.$
Replace with:  [blank]
Check use regular expressions

Replace all

In this case, I'm asking the regular expression to match the last character in a line if it is a period.
