In the Z39.50 options, marcedit sets a limit of 20 (default). I believe that is the default limit used when retrieving data using the batch tool as well. You can reduce that limit to reduce the # of items returned on a query.

Subject: [MARCEDIT-L] Limiting # of records returned w/ Z39.50 client
When doing batch Title/ Author searches, many larger system targets will return multiple records for a given title/ author combination, sometimes hundreds of records for classic works.
Is there a way to limit the number of records returned for a given search string/ for each line?
Thank you,
