Thanks folks for the feedback. Personally, I like having the freedom to post updates as I finish them and feel that they are ready. It fits better into my development schedule and makes it easier to correct mistakes when they have happened. At the same time, I certainly understand why some folks managing large IT groups would like to have more uniformity in the update schedule since it would allow them the ability to test updates prior to pushing them forward. What I think that I'm going to do is add a small option in the preferences that will allow you to schedule the automatic update check for a specific day of the week/week of the month. By default, I'll keep automatic updates set to check on application start you should notice no change unless you specifically change the setting.
