Actually -- the best way to do this -- Open the file in the MarcEditor -- use the Select Individual Records to Make tool -- (under File menu). This opens the Extract Selected Records tool. Find your records -- then extract them. Now make your edits and Save the file. The file is saved back to the original source file -- replacing the records that you pulled out.
Since this actually modifies the source file -- you may want to make a backup of your file prior to working on it. But this is the easiest way to work with subsets of data within a file when you don't want to break the file up.

Hi Chris,
Depending on the options you chose when extracting records, you can either use the MARC Join tool or the Merge Records tool. When you extracted the records, if you selected to delete them from the source file, you were prompted to save a file of the original records minus the extracted records and a file of the extracted records. Compile these two files into MARC and use the MARC Join tool. If you selected not to delete the extracted records from the source file, then you should use the Merge Records tool to merge the source file with the file of extracted records. I haven't really used that tool so you should search the list archives for tips on how to use it if it's not self-explanatory. Hope that helps!
Shelley
