The Office of History, Headquarters, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking to fill a full-time student summer hire (paid internship) position from roughly May - September, 2014. The position pay is approximately $13 - $15 per hour depending on qualifications. Interested students are required to apply via USAjobs following this link:

The vacancy announcement is only open until April 18, 2014, so interested students should apply as soon as possible. Graduate students are especially encouraged to apply.

The Office of History consists of 4 historians, a museum curator, an editor, and contractors. We are a fully-functioning history office, publishing house, museum, and research facility. We have an extensive museum collection, a large research archive, we maintain our own website, and publish at least one book per year. Students interested in pursuing historical, curatorial, editorial, or archival careers would benefit by working with the Office of History for a summer to see how a public history office operates. It could also serve to focus students' interests on particular fields or subjects.

Projects could vary widely and frequently depending on office needs and student interests. They could involve but are not limited to:

- Organizing and accessioning electronic and paper records,
- Maintaining research collections,
- Scanning and captioning materials including manuscripts and images,
- Oral history,
- Museum studies,
- Research and writing for possible inclusion in publications,
- Editing, revising, and indexing,
- Web design and desktop publishing.

The Office of History's facilities are located near Ft. Belvoir in Fairfax County, VA.

Please note other requirements on the USAjobs posting.
