Dear History/Art History grads,

Are you interested in gaining some practical experience in archives and archival processing? The University Libraries are accepting applications for a Graduate Research Assistant (GRA)<https://secure-web.cisco.com/1v29xZHftS2M7rTXRM0JRHvqqEfienWkD9x-mIqb1ZmEv6TwaHiVNLo6-KDFpDAHkFd3wG_UgcH-lCsW91kDYIwLD5hFIHhEsH3IGhLNqI_LBOSQbzlKhMO721NQoRm5GwgnZQdAFPLJFO511O96nR-yKZ7VPjbCT5rjjFVXDa2SpXk9yiMXBstKaA-JIu8bW_fsckpcz_hJ3u5lTcBYGsTxgTpLSylJd_7JZ2-CMBy-cS9yaPCtZVJM7Um8KU6eGqngBzpMexohAMj_j2CdMjieotBFBRylF7-0NwomGgb8KlJLDTRZL9OG6j0eOQ2Vlzwn0WiYQ4ot6jBHWn6zCR_wlRUTBMvs4b4Ml_2jv6HE2hLnKm9ECEad9JIqaK8IQLP1DcwpypabN1xLC327F1gcSUD29cig0FZSObTvf1rHc1rRhpeTPf8BRVxpAOkU2NgcEOwm4kWKStehauDJ-3g/https%3A%2F%2Fgmu.joinhandshake.com%2Fjobs%2F4957286> for the James M. Buchanan Papers Processing Project<https://vault217.gmu.edu/?p=9358>, to begin Fall 2021 and with the potential to go through Spring 2023. This position includes a yearly stipend of $18,000 (for 2021-22), and CHSS will provide 12 credit hours of in-state tuition, fees, and health insurance per year.

The GRA will assist with arranging and describing the James M. Buchanan papers as a part of a National Endowment for the Humanities grant-funded project. The James M. Buchanan papers consist of 282 linear feet of archival material produced or collected as part of the life and career of Nobel-Prize winning economist James M. Buchanan. Buchanan was a faculty member at George Mason University from 1983-2013, and his work on the relationship between economics, philosophy, and politics continue to be a source of scholarship and debate among economists, historians, and others in the scholarly community and in public discourse.

A background in economics is NOT required for this position, and we encourage applicants from all areas of humanities research!
