Subject: SSRC Dissertation Proposal Development Fellowships - Please bring to the attention of your PhD students!

SSRC DPDF PROGRAM - Applications Now Open!

http://www.ssrc.org/fellowships/dpdf-fellowship/

Application Deadline: February 3, 2014

The Social Science Research Council's Dissertation Proposal Development Fellowship (DPDF) is now accepting applications from doctoral students who wish to participate in this program in 2014. This nationally competitive program offers funding for students who are in the process of developing a dissertation proposal to participate in two thematically organized, interdisciplinary workshops led by senior faculty, plus up to $5,000 for summer research.

The 2014 DPDF Research Fields are:

  * Development and Migration (International Field)
  * Immigrants and their Homeland Connections: Transnationalism in Historical Perspective
  * Making the Biotech Body: Technologies, Knowledge, and Global Markets
  * Modernity and Autochthony: The Question of Land-Based Group Identity
  * Oceanic Studies: Seas as Sites and Subjects of Interdisciplinary Inquiry
  * State Building and Governance in Retrospect and Prospect

Potential applicants are asked to review carefully both the eligibility requirements and the current research field descriptions (found at the web site) to assess into which research field, if any, their project might fit best.

Please note that this competition is unrestricted by citizenship; international students may apply so long as they are otherwise eligible.

The Office of Graduate Fellowships is available to advise students applying to this competition and offer feedback on written proposals.
