Second Language Testing, Inc. is looking for content area experts to develop listening and reading passages for a college-level proficiency test.

All passages will be geared toward a native-English-speaking-undergraduate’s comprehension and background knowledge (100-200 level), with a topic selected by the context area expert. The listening and reading passages will be brief (5-6 minutes, or 500-600 words), and should be of either university lecture or publishable quality, but should not contain specific published research or copyrighted material.

We have found that students and individuals with graduate-level experience are able to easily create these passages within a few days, without performing background research or seeking outside sources.

Passage creation will be confidential, and the passage writer’s name will not be connected to the published version on the operational exam. Passages developed will be the property of SLTI, and may not be published by the writer at a later date.

Passage creators will be paid 250.00 - 270.00 USD for initial passage development.

If you are interested, or know any researchers or graduate students who might be interested, please pass this information along, and visit 2lti.com/cae/<http://www.2lti.com/cae/> for more information and the application form.

SLTI will be developing passages from now through mid-May.

We are looking for people who:
• Have a higher degree or 2 years graduate experience in a relevant subject (listed below)
• Preferred experience: recent TA or lecturing experience and/or ability to write at a level that would be accepted by a peer-reviewed journal
• Are able to develop passages based on detailed specifications
• Will be able to develop their passages over the next 2 to 6 weeks

Assignment will be one of the following (or a similar assignment):

• Develop a 5- to 6-minute lecture directed toward a 100-200 level course. Submission will include an outline and a sound file—must have access to professional recording equipment or the ability to visit our Rockville, MD office (Metro accessible).
• Develop a 500-600 word simulated textbook or technical excerpt representing 100-200 level course material. Submission will include a word document.
