Subject: RA opportunity for history student

Dear Emily,

The Mercatus Center (a research center here on the GMU campus) is seeking a doctoral student in history for some RA work. The position does include a competitive stipend, so I'm hoping it might be of interest to one of the students in your department. Would you be willing to pass the below advertisement along to the students in the history PhD program? Please do let me know if there are any questions I can answer for you, and I appreciate your consideration.

A scholar affiliated with the Mercatus Center at George Mason University is seeking a doctoral student in history for research assistance in the area of women's rights in the United States in the 19th century. Responsibilities may include literature reviews, fact-checking, and other research assistance on topics such as women's involvement in the labor market, the impact of marriage and family law on women's opportunities and experiences, and the regulation of women's work. The expected time commitment will be 15-20 hours per week for the remainder of the semester. Hours are completely flexible and the position will include a competitive stipend.

The ideal research assistant will have experience with academic research in history, including archival work, and a particular interest in the history of the 19th century United States, but applications are invited from all interested candidates. If you would like to apply or have any questions, please contact Jayme Lemke at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.
